Stop losing orders. Learn how to reduce the cost per part!
To get more orders without reducing your profit is the real today’s challenge. Market rules have been changed and it’s your job to face the change best, learning new tools and methods to make your production department more competitive than your competitors. My team and I help companies that use Machining Centers in battery or twin-spindle Machine Tools for metalworking to reduce the cost per part in order to get more orders.

The machining center with 3 independent spindles is the right compromise between productivity and flexibility. We have several parts that rotate on this machine, from small batches (500/1,000 parts) to larger ones (15,000/20,000 parts). (more…)
The implementation of PORTA Production Method and an all-round departmental approach let me face and carry on the production of small batches, without stopping the production of larger orders. (more…)
Working parts on a horizontal machining center, in order to compensate for tool changes and to have a barely acceptable cycle time, we placed more parts per cube and, being forged or cast parts, we had repeatability problems. (more…)
Adopting PORTA Production Method, we have reduced waste, production costs and delivery times, thanks to the speed of retooling. Excellent results have been noticed in terms of speed in productivity and quality of the finished part. (more…)
Before it was impossible to work with a single solution on the six faces of my part with some inclined holes. Now it is a reality, thanks to the use of standard tooling. (more…)
Before, having to make the part in stages, we had problems related to dents, critical thicknesses, burrs. Then, thanks to PORTA Production Method, we had the opportunity to optimize the cycle, solving problems related to quality and cycle time. (more…)
Before discovering PORTA Production Method, I faced up to long tooling times and cycle times, which did not allow an immediate production change. The aim was to machine as many parts as possible by increasing the stock in the warehouse (and therefore costs!). (more…)
I had problems related to the part loading and the downtime of tool changes; to perform all the machining of the part I had to equip several machines. Now, I load the part on the free pallet, while the units are working. (more…)
With a horizontal center we were unable to deal with our workload, made of lots of parts and relatively small batches. It would have been necessary to purchase two additional machining centers, increasing also the workforce operating the machines. (more…)
Our production is so varied, both in terms of kind of pieces and lot sizes (from a few units to tens of thousands of parts). For the production we mainly used machining centers for medium-small series and transfer machines for big quantities. (more…)
Our complex manufacturing required multiple machining stages on transfer machines, with long and complicated tooling operations. Furthermore, it was difficult to maintain a good quality standard due to the need to carry out manual deburring processes. (more…)
The inflexibility of the transfer caused problems in the working options and production capacity of our diverter valves, which require multiple operations on several occasions. Moreover, we had significant downtime and long set-up times (around 1.5-2 hours). (more…)
Fondazione Porta is an independent institution created with the aim of helping production companies that use Machine Tools for metalworking to become more competitive. All this by providing content and courses included in the Porta Production Method, a production philosophy based on Lean Manufacturing.
